Dianna Deoan.

Deoan (ເດືອນ) — middle name, meaning moon. Pronounced d-ugh-n.

I couldn’t find what I was looking for and I wanted to create what doesn’t exist in the way I imagine it.

Poeia is my primary creative work — an emerging company making objects and formulations for everyday life. A world coming into form, slowly built. It is where my interests in craft, sensory experience, material honesty, and environmental responsibility converge into something concrete. I couldn’t find what I was looking for and I wanted to create what doesn’t exist in the way I imagine it. Because the environments and objects we live with shape how we feel, move, and live each day.

Current
Founder — Poeia Objects & formulations for everyday life
There is a longer story that begins before Berkeley — shaped as much by lived experience as formal study.
Academic
UC Berkeley Rhetoric — Narrative & Image a “cousin” of the Film department with shared faculty and curriculum.
UC Berkeley Haas 295A — Entrepreneurship a graduate entrepreneurship course at Haas sharpened how I think about building.
Grounding
Edible Schoolyard, North Berkeley where food, ecology, and learning through the senses are one practice.
IDEO CoLab early work in partnerships and community at a San Francisco startup, incubated through IDEO CoLab.
Galileo Learning design-thinking education
My work is also informed by experiences that you won’t find on my LinkedIn — a lifelong practice and interest across art, fashion, design, music, and other creative disciplines.
Many industries, many rooms — always within the same ecosystem of innovation and ideas.
Other Lives A cafe, apothecary, record store, floral designer, promotional model, bridal shop, education & community, legal/funds, among others.
California Heritage & Sensibility Its diversity and deep culture, its agriculture, its innovation ecosystems, the creative freshness of the West coast — its particular mixture of rigor and reinvention.

I’d like to know.

I’m interested in the people building things carefully — objects, spaces, ideas, communities. If that’s you, say hello.
